Black and Blue by Jeff Prebis is a short story that I wish could have been longer. In the short length of this book he has created characters the reader can feel for and identify with. With a serial killer on the streets the police send out one of their best detectives under-cover, the twist being that Cooke is a man, and he is soon walking the streets in drag, looking more like a woman than some of the hookers out there. When Cooke makes a potentially fatal error, his life is saved by Olivia, a hooker he has fallen in love with during his time on the streets.As we learn how the unlikely couple came together, the author takes us into the strange world of eroticism that exists between the pair, until we are faced with a tragic twist as the identity of the serial killer is finally revealed.Trust me, it's not what you think, and Mr Prebis has added yet another terrific surprise twist in the tale that keeps the story alive to the very last page.Product details
