What if you could plant a seed, and make it grow in an
instant?

This story is about just such a person, a boy named Andrew who could do just that---plant seeds and watch them grow like magic.

This account begins like any other---on the first page, just like any
respectable narrative should.
Things go pretty swell for Andrew, that is, until soldiers overrun his town and make him a slave to work in the mines of Nookpot.
That's where this story really begins. In a dark sooty place, underneath the ground, where Andrew discovers his green thumb has turned black as the coal he shovels.
I know I should probably tell you more---but I think I've covered all the basics. There's that bit about Andrew turning a dandelion, the size of a tree, into a dead stick. That was pretty rude. And then there's the bit about me finding Ivory, or Carrots as I like to call her, and me saving Monday's life. And I should mention the part about me crossing the bridge over which the dragon fireflies live---that was particularly scary, seeing how my whiskers could've ignited and burnt me alive.
No need to mention the sword, Orion, The Fallen or the Barnacles, or the Foglocker, or the Rockpoppers, or any of those things.
If you want to know any more about them, you will have to find out the hard way, by reading.
And by hard, I mean, hard.
Twiskers are excellent at writing in scribbly. And if you can decipher my scribbly,
your talents are great.

Your humble servant,
Gogindy,
Twisker of the Dandelion Den

Rise of the Fallen Andrew and the Quest of Orion Belt Book 1 edition by Ivory Autumn Children eBooks

RISE OF THE FALLEN takes place on a totally original world with many wonderful and unique characters who have very well-defined and three-dimensional personalities. The imagery is really excellent; it is very vivid and realistic and my mental images were enhanced by the drawings. (I was a little disappointed that more of the pictures weren't in color, particularly the one with the rainbows.) The writing style is very smooth and flowing, however, the editing was not well done. There are many spelling and grammatical mistakes and I certainly hope that the next book has better proofreading than this one does. While I enjoyed reading all about the characters' adventures, the way the book ends makes it seem like a prequel and not the first book in the series. Also, the epilogue reads more like an excerpt from the next book instead of bringing some closure to this one, which I don't like. (I really hate cliffhangers but they're especially bad when the next book isn't written yet!) Altogether, there is much more good than bad in this book and I definitely recommend reading it to lovers of light, original fantasy. (FYI, this book may have been intended for YA, but I am almost 60 and I certainly enjoyed it so I'm sure that a wide audience will enjoy it, too.)

Rise of the Fallen Andrew and the Quest of Orion Belt Book 1 edition by Ivory Autumn Children eBooks Reviews

This is a really good book and I enjoy it so much. I hated for it to end. The characters and their involvement was perfect. I am a kid at heart and I love books that have a little mystery and magic and the promise of a good outcoming. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves the same things.
Even though this new Author is young, she shows wisdom beyond her years. I actually had to underline some parts of it to read again. I felt like I was being sucked in from the very first page clear through to the end. It was so delightfully refreshing. I could savor and enjoy it without running into foul language or sex. It was like enjoying an ice cream cone on a hot summer day!
I can't wait for the next in the series to see what could possibly happen next.
I think anyone wanting to help a tween find the thrill of reading should read them this book.
Andrew is such a delightful boy who doesn't know his destiny until he is forced to flee his home. The people, and creatures he finds on his way are thrilling and some even very dangerous. Love it Love it Love it.
I enjoyed the first chapter and such an engaging character named Andrew. After his capture I felt as though this was a different book molded to chapter one. When Andrew meets Rhapsody it was like so many different character were thrown at the reader. With each character was a different "world" the main characters needed to get past a new villain. This book needs serious editing.
This book would be great for anyone who has read and enjoyed Fablehaven, Percy Jackson, Hounds of Rowan or a similar fantasy series. Like a lot of fantasy books it has some similarities to Lord of the Rings but it has enough uniqueness to make it an interesting read. This book is the first in a series of books to come and once I got to the end, it left me wanting to know more.

There were parts of the story that I thought were totally brilliant. There is a character called the Foglocker and he feeds on a person's fears and uses that to capture and put them in chains. The only way for them to get free is to realize that they have had the key to their own freedom all along, they just needed to be strong enough to use it. This just one of many very interesting and unique characters and the story has a nice flow that leaves you wanting to know what happens next.

My biggest criticism of the book is that there were parts where I wished there was an extra paragraph providing more details of the world these characters were living in or more background information on an individual. I guess if there are more books to come in this series then maybe those questions will be answered in future installments. Great start to the series!
This was a great book, however it is definitely not a very dark one. I loved the storyline and characters. However the book is plagued by spelling mistakes. I purchased the kindle version, so this may not be relevant for the physical book, but there was a constant use of the wrong word- as in their for there, here for hear, etc.- and quotation marks were frequently in the wrong place. Overall a great book, just needed some more careful editing with spelling mistakes.
After the beginning of the book when the Twisker rambles on and on about being the hero, the story pulls together and becomes a great start to a Magical star filled adventure, about good vs evil. The story actually has great advise about conquering fear and being positive.
It was very similar to wizard of oz...picking up people along the way...flying things like the monkeys in the movie...certain things reminded me of wizard of oz.
